For those using LED lighting - can you give me a recommendation, please?  What brand and size are you using over what tank?  Are you happy with it?  I am looking to change to LED lights over a 55 gallon reef (mostly lps, but also some sps) - I had been using T-5s over my 125, but am looking for something different (hopefully even brighter...).
    Thank you!

I'm using AI's, and I'm really pleased with them. I had 400 watt MH's before, and while they looked great, they created LOTS of heat and used lots of electricity. My corals have had phenomenal growth with the LED's. I also feed Oyster Feast every day, so that helps too.

    +1 on the AI.
I run mine on a 29 biocube at only about 50%, since its a AI SOL Blue and not a Nano. But since I started using it, growth, poly extension, and color all have improved about 100%. I've been very happy with the light.
Also the Oyster Feast from Reef Nutrition is also another great product to use too.

if you are looking for a light that is a little cheaper i would recommend looking at http://www.evolutionledlight.com/... i have had mine for a few months and my BTA seems to like it. and all of my corals are thriving.
i have 2 EVO 150 over my 75g. but if you can go for a better brand i would, as you know in this hobby "bigger is better"
the EVO's do the trick though.

Thank you for the info - I am doing a bit of research on both of these companies...

I have AI LEDs and am happy with them. I am currently working on a plan to hang some VHOs over the tank as well. I have them laying around and want to see what happens with my corals.

DIY from Rapidled.com. Great products for cheaper if you have the time and skills needed.

I was pretty impressed with all the DIY leds we saw on the Iowa City tank tour. I will probably go that route on my biocube and maybe even add some type of DIY along with the AIs on my 250dd

I just purchased an led fixture from apolloreef. Here is the link. http://apolloreefled.com/shop/solarblast-dimable/ I got the dimmable one and so far, very impressed. Will post some picts/review once I have more time with it.

What size tank do you have and how deep?  How long have you had the AI's.  I'm assuming you have SPS?  Thanks for the info/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I know there's a member here in CR that also has the new Ecotech lights. Has 2 on a 120. They look pretty good too..and according to Ecotech, are supposed to be user upgradable if desired in the future.

Another +1 on Ai's, have 2 mounted 12" above my 75G at 85% and 1 hanging 14" above my frag tank at 90%. Both are doing very well under the lights. I dont think you can go wrong with the controllers you get from AI. Ive seen and heard of the phoenix's but until I see one in person I guess I'm not too fond of the design of it.

I wanted to thank everyone who responded again. The DIY is intriguing, but time is lacking now. I ended up purchasing an EVO-150 - my controller is basic, so I wasn't planning on having it dim the lights, but I do like the manual dim on this fixture. So far, so good /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif. I am getting Colorado from some of my chalices that I wasn't getting before - some due to placement other from light color.
