My question is would a fixture such as this work for a primarily FOWLR tank (want to have softies too). Let me preface this by stating I know next to nothing about LED's and am pretty much old school (MH + T5) with respect to reef tank lighting. This will be for the 210 tank my wife is setting up in the basement and I don't want MH lighting (not only because won't be needed for fowlr/softies) but because the tank will be built into a basement wall with a fish/mechanical room behind it so don't want the heat of MH lighting so looking at T5 or LED as candidate options.

Anyway, is something like this fixture suitable for these needs? Other options we should consider? Thanks for any input:

Not sure of the quality etc of that exact fixture, but I did a DIY LED setup for my mainly FOWLR set up. I have a 4 foot wide 120 gallon and 48 of the 3 watt LEDs that I am using work really well. I ha e a couple of really basic corals in there (green star polyps, some mushrooms, and a Kenya tree coral) that are all doing well. With double the LEDs, you should be more than fine in a 210.

I have two Kessil a350 w's on my 120 gallon. My corals love them and i have soft, sps, lps. I debate on getting three total kessil fixtures at times but so far two is enough. With a fowlr/soft tank setup your size maybe start out with three to see how you lie them. Ultimately on a 210 i would think 4-5 fixtures would look nice on there. The lights emit very little heat and are small/light enough to allow for a variety of mounting options such as hanging them from a cable mounted tomthe cieling or using the kessil gooseneck mounts that are available to purchase seperately from the lights (which is how i chose to mount mine).

the aquatraders style will have more of the white and some blue cheaper but should last i had a kessil as well it was fine but neither one of these has a large spread would be fine for fowler there is also reefbreeders led about 180 each with those you would have more flexability
