I am debating on trying this or using Red Sea Aptasia-X. What I have read about this product is that it glues the mouth shut since they digest it like food and it is supposedly safe in the tank as well.

Not according to this, it kills them because of the flow through the aiptaisa's body, which it cannot stop

Not stepping on any toes here deliberately, but I had great success in my 120g buying 12 peppermint shrimp. Aptasia all gone and I am always hesitant to use any chemical in my tank. Just a suggestion.....[IMG]

yes but they only tend to eat the small ones. I have ones that are 4" tall and 4" across.

I'd like to buy some of this from someone if you order it or have any. I have spent way too much time trying to rid of these creatures, but am willing to try again.

I'm going to be looking for a place to get it from. Probably the same place I get my acrylic solvent from in Omaha. I'll let you know.

I buy chemicals including 1.0 Normal NaOH (for work) from Midland Scientific in Omaha.  They have a branch in Davenport.  They should carry the 2.0 N and others.  I don't know if it's considered a hazardous substance which could significanly increase shipping if ordered online.  Midland Scientific delivers in Sioux City, which helps me avoid shipping costs.  It wouldn't surprise me if they have a route to the Des Moines area.
The Reefscapes article says Sodium Hydroxide is the main ingredent of some drain cleaners.  It's also the same as lye.

    Yup, that's the place.

That article mentions draino and other things. Says to stay away from it.

Purchased a Peppermint Shrimp last night. There are plenty of smaller ones to eat in my tank. It was an impulse buy but it was only $8. Still will have to use the Kalk on the monster if this takes out all the smaller ones.
