If you've followed my threads you'll know I had a problem with some SPS and 2 of my fish have ich. Well I got them into a hospital tank and put in a FW decoration. The tang zipped right in there and I hadn't seen him since. Well this morning I pulled out the fake driftood piece and he was wedged in a small crevise up inside. I panicked and tried to shake it a little, that didnt work, so I dunked it back in, got a pair of pliers and started breaking it up, finally got him out, but Im at work wondering if the little guy made it. Like my husband said, this hasnt been my month.  [IMG]

Ive always heard its always best to put live rock in your QT or Hospital tank not only for filtration but for the natural environment they have been used to or will be used to.... I guess not all fish only tanks use LR but those little decorations scare me for that reason bcuz they are all hollow and stuff always hides in there but sumtimes cant get out... perfect example.... Sorry... Hope he is all good. They are tough lil guys unless you cut him or pimcnhed w pliers I bet hes ok.... Now fighting off the ich is the big battle....lol

He seems to be OK the little trooper!  I guess I didnt put live rock in because Im doing hypo and didnt want the die-off it would cause. I put a large "sunken bell" in there now, they all like it and it has no crevices to get stuck in. So far so good!

OK now I've got 2 hospital/QT tanks doing hypo on both. No stress here[IMG]   Will my live rock be OK with no bio-load for 6-8 weeks, or am I going to have a mini cycle in my future?

When I did hypo treatment on my fish a few years ago I just kept feeding the tank about a 1/3rd to 1/2 as much as I did when the fish were in it. I figured the food would still break down and feed the bacteria. I never saw a spike of any kind when the fish were put back in the display. I did notice a huge explosion in pods and snails.
I'm sure you already know this but I'll say it just in case you haven't, Make sure you bring the fish back from hypo very slowly, I brought mine up in about 7-8 days, I have read where people brought it back up in a day or two and lost fish.

OK thanks, I was going to feed a liitle anyhow because of the snails and shrimp. And yes, I will have plenty of time to bring up the salinity.
