its getting close,time to start a morel mushroom post!

well i have been checking the morel mushroom pages and i think its getting close(another couple of weeks and it is on)
lets start updating each other when we start to find them and in what part of the state they are being found(we don't need a map to your favorite spots)
just thought it would be cool to find out when everyone starts to find them.
i had a pretty good year last year and i think they are coming a little early this year.
can't wait and good luck hunting!!!

Well, our yard tends to produce a couple of cooler fulls. Anyone out there trade morells for coral? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif.

 

I know this is a long shot, however, being new to the area and the issues that transpired last year with the angry farmer I ran into.  I was kind of hoping that I could find someone on here to go out with within a hour drive that wouldn't mind me going out with them.

As stated I know its a long shot asking.

Thanks Craig, I really appriciate that, growing up as a Ukrainian this has been part of my families culture since I could remember, did not have them in NC, so I only got them when I went to visit family and friends in Canada.  Some of the best memories I have from my childhood was going out with my grandfather picking (mainly out of his bucket, but picking all the same).  Maybe we could plan a Sunday here in a few weeks.

 

You bet, I will watch iowaoutdoors as they let you know when they are popping.

There is a good public spot close to me, but we will have to go early as I am sure there will be a ton of people there as usual.

 

april 15 is the day i normaly find the first one.. got t put some miles on though

 

with all of this rain, I bet they will pop up sooner than later.

 

typically around here its about the first week in may before we start seeing morals. with the amount of rain and warm weather though im going to shoot for a last week in april.

Well you are welcome to come along, but I am far from a pro. I have only lived in LPC for about 3 yrs now so still learning the spots too
