Well I know I told some of you that I was moving. And I'm almost finished. I'm in my new place but I still had my 75 gallon the 40 gallon breeder and the bio cube at my old place I was going to save my aquariums for last to move. I get off work this morning and go to check on them and EVERYTHING is dead except a hermit crab a pistol shrimp an anemone and a branch of a torch coral. Fricken Mid-American energy accidentally turned off my electricity early. I called them and ask what happened and she basically said to me "oops some one misunderstood" WTH?!? It wasn't supposed to be turned off until the end of the month. I'm not sure if all my coral is dead but the water temperature is in the 40s and everything looked pretty white but I couldn't be for sure because the lights were off. Not sure what to do I'm really thinking about giving up and selling everything ...this sucks!!! What should I do???

  2. i would deffinately go back and talk with her supervisor at mid america

Definitely run that issue up the chain of command. Try to get some compensation for their screw up.

I talked with a supervisor and they are going to discount my bill for a few months. He apologizes and says that's all he can do #stillpissed

exactly what the above said, call back and work your way up the chain of command to see if you can get compensated.

I call BS on "that's all we can do". Sounds like you have a legit claim, specifically if you have something in writing saying power gets shut off this day.

Sorry for the loss, that's a huge bummer.

Small claims court will be your best option. List everything now before you forget it, and write down its worth plus some for the hassle. Tell them this is what it is, or court we are headed. They will spend more on their lawyer then the claim

Do not accept anything as supposed "compensation" yet, or you may get screwed.

I would do as Craig suggests and start getting a list together. Make sure they know your intentions are to fight it through court if necessary. Hopefully they will make it at least somewhat right.

That's awful. Sadly, I've heard of other instances of this same thing happening. I think you should use the opportunity to start new. It must be frustrating, but don't give up on the hobby!

    I'm sorry man, that's awful.

I just called my friend who used to be a former customer service rep for them. Here's what you need to do:

Call them and ask for them to send you (mail or fax) a claim form.

Fill out this claim form for your tanks and send it in.

This form goes to a seperate legal department that has more pull than the lowly customer service managers.

You'll probably want to well document the losses as I'm sure these guys are probably not in the hobby.

Let me know if you have any questions on that.
