They are calling for severe thunderstorms this weekend marking the beginning of storm season.
    Is your tank prepared?
    Things you can/should do
Cut the power to the tank.  Does it overflow?  Does it start back up ok?
Invest in a power inverter for your vehicle.  This simple device clips onto your battery, and allows you to run an extension cord to your tank.  If your car has gas, you have power.
A small gas powered generator can be found for $150 at most equipment stores (harbor freight)
Remember the number one priority for your tank is oxygen.  It can take a couple days with no lights, or a drop in temperature, but you cant live without oxygen & neither can your tank.  Run your return pump if you can, and/or an air pump wiht air stone.
If worse comes to work you can pump air into your tank with a bycycle hand pump & a line.
A method of last resort would be to use a small amount of hydrogene peroxide in your tank to raise O2 levels.

    I'm rocking a 3 MP40's and a pair of battery backups!!!!

But another thing you can do (and I've done in the past) is take a cordless drill, tape a spatula to a short bit, clamp the trigger down, and set it up on the tank, spatula face down into the water. With a couple of batteries you can go for about 6 hours.

Craig what have you got going on at AC&C? In the future I'd like to have a 3Kw propane/nat gas powered stationary generator with auto switch. You can pick these up and get them installed for about 2300 bucks! If you own your home, they're well worth it!!!!! keep heaters on in winter outages, main pumps on, AND tv!!!!

We have a central air pump with air stones/sponges in all tanks. If power goes down for long, I have an inverter to plug the main air pump into. If it is out for very long I have a 6000 watt generator.

Eventually we will have a automatic start generator that will run the whole building, but that is a ways down the road.

Good reminder for everyone. The power has been off and on all night here, plus spent some QT in the basement as the tornadoes were going around.

I have been considering a small generator but in the meantime my plan is to run to walmart and get one of those battery powered bait air pumps they sell in the fishing stuff if the power goes out
