Would a 400 watt MH be too much for my tank? I have a 46 bow and im planning on putting a 15" canopy on it.

As Seanndenise said, heat is going to be your issue. If you have a decent sized sump and a fan to cool it you should be fine. Although, that does seem like a little overkill in the grand scheme of things.

I've got two 400W on my 90 and it works great. And I'm running a closed canopy top too! I keep it cool by running a 30 gallon refusium with temp controlled fans and a 60 gallon sump in a backroom so the noise is contained.
