Input on lighting

i'm not sure about the oddysea stuff honestly, you get what you pay for. You could use the T5's for now and buy a nice halide setup down the road, maybe pendant style or retrofit. retrofit would be cheaper and could have a hood then. but i wouldn't suggest the cheap setups, i think someone here mentioned something about the oddysea stuff catching fire and stuff.......so i dunno. i bought a cheap T5 setup off ebay and ran it for a few months and it worked just fine so who knows.

 

I currently use the oddysea light. I admit that it isn't the greatest and would like to get a pendant style. But I haven't had any problem with it yet, nor has it cought fire

 

give the ebay one a shot.  could be the best money you spent   maybe upgrade bulbs though

Hello everyone. I am upgrading from  my 40 breeder to a 75g rr. All i need to get her going is the lights. Right now I have a Nova extreme Pro 39x6 T5 fixture which is 36" long which fits my breeder perfectly. Trying to figure a way to utilize my existing fixture with the addition possibly of a couple of 4ft VHO's or going with this fixture I seen on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...0303079952 any thoughts on this unit or any ideas on how i could use my 36 inch on a 48 inch tank by utilizing 2 more bulbs.

That sounds like a lot of light for $350 shipped!
I just did a ton a research and settled on T-5 HO's.  They won't be running for a few days nor am I replacing MH's so it'll be a while before I know how they'll do.
What I found is that T-5's are less money initially, use less electricity, don't need to be replaced as often, and 216w T-5 is equal to 400w MH.
