I wanna frag!

    This might not be where this post goes but I searched the site and was wondering if there was an area dedicated to fragging corals with tips and tricks or instructions?

    I have some button polyps, mushrooms, ricordia mushrooms, and zoas I wanna take a wack at!

    Everything that you described is very simple to frag. Depending on what they are growing on, a sharp knife or a blade is your main weapon of choice.


    I use revive when I do any type of fragging and then I mount them directly in the aquarium or onto a frag plug.


    The mushrooms are the only ones that you have to be caution with and you split through the mouth, and the others you just split between the polyps.

    One note of advice on the mushroom:

    I like to take a small container like a shallow tuperwater and add some rubble rock to it. Then, when you split mushrooms, add them to the dish with the crushed coral and rubble rock, place a fine mesh net over the top. Then you get flow in and out of the container and the mushrooms don't float around your tank. After a week or so, you will notice that the mushrooms have found their way to attaching on rubble rock and crushed coral. Then you can easily use that to mount in your tank or on frag plugs.

    So i tried the rubble rock method and split the mushrooms into fourths... Now just gotta wait and see!
