I got this orange tree sponge about 2 weeks ago and so far its doing quite well.   I have it in a lower light high flow area in the tank. but there is some algae/debris on part of a few branches so I was wondering what the best way to clean it off would be.  A brush? turkey baster and blow it off?  no experience with sponges and I cant seam to find to much info so any suggestions would be great.  Also im just feeding phyto to the tank, do I need to feed anything different than that for it.

best thing would be to move it to a higher flow area. this is the only way they receive food and keep detritus buildup of there tissue. a sponges body is made up of tiny vascular cavities carrying water to different cells. if you brushed any part of it with something hard (i.e. toothbrush) you will collapse the cell wall and kill that part anyway. best thing to do is to put it in strong flow and let nature take its course.
    hope this helps

    thanks joe

Ok thanks. It's in front of a Koralia 750 powerhead so idk where it could get in more flow in my tank. I'll just set back and see how it goes
