How much is running salt water costing us?

I currently have a 180 gallon saltwater tank with about 60 gallon sump and a 55 gallon RODI barrel running automatic water changes. I have 2 LED lights and a number of tunze pumps. I have noticed over the past several months that out utility bill has been fairly high....about $100 more per month. I think I have traced it back to the tank...but not sure. Is there a way you can determine how much electricity and water our saltwater setups are costing us?

I have about 3 smaller tanks (40, 40, and 29) and with all the water I use when I do weekly water changes I think my water bill is only going up by about $5. But I'm not sure how to calculate the increase in electricity.

You can buy the Kill A Watt unit plug your tank into that and get exact ammounts consumed by your tank

Make sure you put in the right KWH you are charged. Most Iowa is around 8-10 cents I believe

Yes, the kill-a-watt could tell you. Our electric company might still be loaning them out so you might want to check with yours. Good to see you on here! :0)
