I've used a big spoon before to get a fish out of the the back return area of a biocube......twice..........

Is it a biocube? I had a fish get into the overflow in my 120 and I just pulled the drain stand pipe on it and picked him up in the filter sock lol!

I just pulled the drain pipe, let the water empty, and guess what? He became a fish outta water and I scooped him up.

Haha yeah it's always something isn't it? Good deal. What fish was it, and how pissed off was he? It was surprising. My starry blenny was the one I flushed out and I scooped him out of the filter sock and dipped my hand in the tank with him cupped in my palm, and he just sat there and looked at me like...."hey, this is a nice new shelf to chill on" Then he started eating the little bubbles off my hand and then I pulled my hand away! lol Goofball

+1 Andy. Just make sure that after you drain the overflow, that you have enough light to see the bottom of the overflow chamber to make sure the fish isn't in there. We did that at Troy's house once and were freaking out for a while thinking that the fish was stuck in the plumbing, when in reality, it never went down to begin with...it was in the bottom of the overflow. We just didn't have enough light to see it in the shadows.

Yeah, I know, we tried, but it was in a cramped area and couldn't get direct light in there. Even tried using mirrors. Would have been a perfect time to have an LED headlamp.
