How do I choose the right return pump?

I am in the planning stages of a fish room. I would like to run an external pump and have it run multiple tanks and all related accessories.

The rough plans for now are 1 display tank, 60g, and a 40g frag tank.all on the same floor. head height max 10ft. the sump plans are a rubbermaid trough between 100-150g size. not sure how far away from the tanks it will be. Also to add to the equation would be 2+ media reactors. the skimmer will most likely be internal so i wouldn't need to tie that into the manifold. (plans could change)


I have never had any experience with an external pump. or quite understand high pressure pumps.

so on top of the recommended turn over rate, what should I be looking for in a pump to accommodate the other uses?
