I've lost 2 fish after adding 3 hermit crabs. Do you think they could have killed them?

Are the hermits the small red/blue legged kind, or the big hermits. I don't think the small ones would of killed your fish, but the big ones would of for sure.

They're about 2 inches now. I specifically asked at the LFS what i could put in the tank to clean up a little with a trigger and puffer in it.

I doubt that large or small hermit crabs could kill a trigger or a puffer. I use to have a very large hermit crab in my predator tank for about a year never hurt any fish. Rolled a lot of rocks thow.
