Ruling halts commercial scooping of Hawaii aquarium fish
Just read that. With the mention of yellow tangs, I wonder how the recent development of tank-bred tangs will play in offsetting the capture of wild specimens.
From what I read (briefly) it is a temporary injunction. Snorkel Bob's doing, he's pretty controversial. The science is on the other side of his argument (that pretty much what I see coming from any prominent figure in the Reefkeeping industry) but he's got millions in donations so he pushes that agenda pretty hard. PIJAC pushes the other direction (in favor of the science) and they've been able to hold this legislation off for a while. It doesn't sound like it will stand up in court but who knows.
For the record I really don't have a stance necessarily, I haven't read up on it enough in great detail.
