Looking at buying a harlequin shrimp, anyone had them before or own them now? I do have alot of little starfish in my tank, which they will eat up to one a week.  Just wondering what people thought of them. Thanks.

I have had a few "harleys" in my 125, they are awesome shrimp and pretty much eat stars non stop. I had thousands of baby stars in my tank at one time so i introduced one and within a few months the stars were all gone, a few months later the shrimp was gone as well, apparently it ran out of stars and starved. Don't underestimate the amount of stars these things will consume, once you notice there aren't any more stars in your tank its time to suppliment. I have heard of people keeping chocolate chip stars in a different tank and break off a leg every once in awhile to feed the shrimp.

Yeah, some people told me they do that with the legs, others say just throw one in once a month.

Sound like they are expensive to feed but I have seen it done. They are almost worth it if you have a constant supply of stars.
