Thanks Monty!  Long time no see by the way.
Haven't taken a pic with the fish yet.  I guess I should do that.
To be honest I just bought the chromis so there was something swimming.  I am planning on doing a large group of anthias eventually.

Not a whole lot new to post this week.

I am having a small diatom bloom, I did a check for nitrates a couple days ago and they were sky high so that means the ammonia is getting broke down. I bought some cheap salt today and am planning on doing a 10% water change everyday until they are down to less than 10 or so.

I should be cycled just in time for Fall Fest!

Oh yeah, my Apex should be here sometime this week as well. Once that's installed I am going to go through all my wiring and get it all nice and neat.

Setting up new tanks is so much fun!!!

Sounds like you have timed the cycle just right...FallFest/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/w00t.gif  So will you be keeping SPS's also in the cube?

It will be mostly SPS as that is sort of my forte'.  I suck at keeping anything else for some reason.  LOL

Well , Yeah as small as my cabinet is it would have to be a co2 cartridge for a bebe gun. But I think Kyro is working on building me a miniature gfo for in my cabinet. He is starting his own line I think. Getting the final touches on his stuff. Most of his stuff I think Is medical grade. Have to ask him can't remember right. I will try to catch up this grasshopper will (try) to surpass the master.LOL

Got the Apex installed today. I am about to go crazy with all the damn power wires, cables, tubing, and hose though!!!! GRRRRR!

I really wanted to keep everything neat and orderly and not have a "spaghetti factory" in my cabinet but with 14 power wires all which are all too long it is nearly impossible.

I am almost considering getting the wire cutters out and cutting everything to proper lengths. That sounds like WAAAY to much work though. Who knows, maybe I'll get bored enough this winter.

In the mean time I'm just gonna tuck everything away the best I can and call it good.

    Still cycling....

Got a pretty good diatom bloom going on so that's good i guess.

Been doing 7 gallon water changes every couple days in order to knock the nitrates down.

Decided to sell the display from my Apex. There is no where I can safely mount it on the outside of the stand and it's pointless to put it in the cabinet. I'm going to use the that money to purchase another EB8.

Having everything hooked up to a programmable outlet is such a convenience.

I may start breaking down the 29 gallon this week. The plan is to break off all the corals from the rock and put everything on egg crate until my QT is up and running. I am also going to run a large sponge filter in my 29 gallon so when I do setup the QT I can use some water and the sponge to make it cycle quicker.

I'm trying not to rush things and so far it is paying off. Things are coming together quite nicely.

JOYFUL DAY! Did a water change last night and my Nitrates are now down to undetectable levels. I owe credit for the speedy cycle to a product called AZ-NO3. By dosing ammonia, adding live bacteria, and feeding the bacteria with what is basically sugar water my nitrates dropped like a rock. Now I just need to continue dosing in lower amounts to "wean" my tank off the sugar and I should be ready to go.

I am setting up my QT in a couple weeks and will be tearing down the Bio Cube shortly after....almost there. :)

Holy cow! 3 weeks! That is great. That is 6 weeks faster than mine and that was with cooked rock!

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not about to add all my SPS colonies anytime soon but the fact nitrates are undetectable is a great sign.  Time for a clean-up crew and possibly some zoanthids.

None of this is that cool without any pictures/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue.gif.
Glad to hear it is coming along well for you Jeremy! Looks like your timing will be right for filling it up right away at Fall Fest.
I'm hoping to have everything moved into my new tank next week so I can have some time to be sure it is all stable before I hunt for additions at Fall Fest.

So....the QT tank I setup as a temp tank is never gonna get tore back down. I'm thinking I might keep it up as a growout tank. LOL

Got water on the carpet for the first time last night. GRRRR! I installed an in line heater and apparently didn't have the clamp quite tight enough so the carpet got a drink of about a gallon or so.

Next week the Bio Cube is going to get tore down and cleaned up. Everything in it is going into QT.

    I'll post some pics later.
