I have a few sps in my tank that seem to want to grow straight up rather then branch out in several limbs.
I was curious if by fragging them they may grow in a different way kind of like plants.

you know what you really need to do is just cut them all in half and put half in my tank then they will grow diffrent

Just wait until they get to the size where they want to branch. Sort of depends on the coral type. I have some that branch right away, and some that grow several inches and still aren't branching.

hmm ok, the ones right now that are bothering me is my oregon tort, about 6 inchs long, and my forest fire digi which is about 6-8inchs.

Ya, cut it down, often times they will split off where you cut them. I will see if I can get a pic of an example tonight.

I always found that more flow means more and thicker branches. Don't know if this would be your problem as you have 2 mp40's right?

I do. I am thinking I may move some things around to accommodate some extra flow to these pieces.
