Got a great deal on live rock!

    I have a family member who is getting out of aquariums for the time being because he is going to be moving around.  I am just starting to set up a 29g and he said that he would sell me live rock for ONE DOLLAR a pound!  the live rock looks great and his tanks are a couple years old.
    He has up to 200 pounds, but I don't know how much I should buy.  I don't want my 29 to look like a box of rocks lol.  Does anybody have any suggestions? I am not going to be running a sump on it.
    I have an extra 20g tank and a PC light for it.  I was thinking about eventually using the tank for a prop tank after I grew some corals out in my display tank, but because of this deal I am thinking about setting it up right away.  Do prop tanks have live rock in them?

    Buy it all, cherry pick the pieces you want and sell the rest. Live rock always goes fast if it's decent quality and you have it priced under $2 per lb.

    For a 29, you're probably going to want between 45 and 60lbs.

    Yeah I have to agree. The only thing is that he is doing me a favor with the price cut so I don't want to buy it just to sell it. I will probably just buy what I think I will use.

    well I am in Davenport, but he still has a tank up for now so I think he is just doing me a favor by selling me what he is and for that price. i could ask if he ready to sell more though

    Just set up some rubbermaid tubs with SW, some powerheads and heaters, and you'll have yourself a little LR store /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif
