well I woke up this morning to find the terror of my 300 gal reef tank dead my tomato clown.  I hated this fish he bullied everything in the tank and attacked me every time i reached my hand into the tank. I have tried to catch him on numorous times over the years to get rid of him but he never fell for any of the fish traps.  so I am glad he is gone, but I am still a little sad that he is. he was one of the oldest fish in the tank I had him for 5 years and the guy I got him from had him for 4 years and he got him from somebody else.  I dont know how long a clown generaly lives but I'm guessing this guy was 10+ years old. Its weired he was a total Ahole and I hated him but I think I will still miss him[IMG]

I know what you mean. I've had several little creatures that had irritating behavoirs I discovered after the fact but I always try and remember they can't help but be what nature made them. It's the only thing that keeps me from flushing them down the toilet. Sometimes it's close, though! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif At the moment, I have a green brittle star that I am almost positive killed two of my fish. Unfortunately, he is faster and stronger than I gave him credit for and haven't seen him since I tried to catch him the first time. I'm sure glad my black saddleback clowns don't bite, the female is big and I can hear her clacking her teeth at the male on occasion!

Several years ago I had 3 oscillaris clowns for quite a long time and all of them were fine with me doing maintenance or moving things around in the tank. Eventually one decided to start biting me whenever I stuck my hand in there... within about a week all of them decided to follow this behavior. It's interesting how clowns follow the lead of one another like that. In my current display the clowns never hosted anything (even when I had an RBTA) for about 9 months. Once one of them decided to host my goniopora, the other decided it looked like a wonderful idea as well.
