Fresh air protien skimmer project

I think that is one of the smartest things you could do.

Maybe put a small satchel of carbon in the outside box.

 

I would lay big money it is well over 8.0

 

I tried the same thing with mine last winter and it didn't make a difference for me. I hope it works for you though!

For my last sump configuration, I ran a tube from the air intake on my furnace to my skimmer; that way I didn't have to put new holes in the house. It's a 4" PVC pipe going straight outside. What I didn't do was to put an in-line air filter in place. I can probably do so with a specimen cup, a couple of hose barbs and some filter floss. Now that I have my stuff all reconfigured, I should hook that back up. Thanks for the reminder.

If there is a way to get more fresh air in the room, it would help even more.

People dont realize the affect that CO2 builup in your house has. Not only on your tank, but on your health as well.

 

An example is right now, the water at the store has a ph of 8.28

We have an exhaust fan running all the time drawing fresh air in. That is with the monster calcium reactor running driving down the ph.

 

I've seen huge differences in Ph in the summer when we have all the windows open. When we built our house in '09 we had an air exchanger installed, but not even that does as much as the open windows. When we put in the 350 in wall I ran the fresh air in from the air exchanger into the room where the tank sits to help combat low Ph. The tank should be up and running in about a week so we'll see how it does.
