well its a good thing i hadn't sold my small frag tank yet cause my 48"x24"x12" custom acrylic frag tank just blew a seam and draind instantly.  luckily i was home when it happend but even still by the time i ran down stairs and disconected the pump (I was shocked pretty good in the process[IMG]) I'm guessing i had around a 100gal of water on the floor. thank god for shop vacs! I was able to reconnect my small frag tank and transfer the fish, corals, and snails into the small frag tank pretty quickly so I don't think i lost anything but its sure crowded in there now.
anyone want to try there luck at repairing an acrylic frag tank? it didn't brake the acrylic just split the weld

Sorry to hear about your tank Matt.[IMG]  Hopefully your quick response cuts your losses.  Who manufactured/made the tank?    How old was the tank?  By any chance, had you noticed if there were any bubbles in the seam?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. It's enough to scare me from ever owning a large Acrylic tank ever!

I was shocked because the went all over the power strip and when I touched it to turn it off it shocked me not the first time won't be the last not all acrylic tanks are bad it just depends on how they are made I trust my 300 not to break
I have decided not to try and repair the tank

So its free to any paying member who wants to try and fix it

Personally i think youre lucky, i think the shock could have been worse, usually for things like this you would want to shut the breaker off until you can safely remove the power strip, too much voltage for my comfort zone to dive in.
Im sure you will but JIC, i hope you wait before selling off any frags that probably put alot of stress on your stuff

But thats a nice thing to do, giving away the tank, it will make a good startup tank for someone.

Acrylics have their good and bad points just like glass. I've had my 135 acrylic for about 15 years and it's still going strong. Buy from a reputable manufacturer and you shouldn't have a problem ;-0)
