Fixing a used Skimmer - Questions

    Hey all,
    So, I have a used ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer. It came with the tank but it does not work. I know I need to at least get a new pump if I want to use it.

    I was thinking about using it on a 20 gallon tall. Wanted to know if people ever used this and if they might have a recommendation on if it would be an ok fit and worth fixing. (It does not have the UV sterilizer or the carbon filter parts anymore either.)

    I wasted money on 3 cheap skimmers before finally spending 500 dollars on a good skimmer. These hob skimmers are really only good for gas exchange. Save your money. Just do water changes. As long as there's no crap floating on the surface your fine.

    Thats not really true.  I had a octopus bh 2000 HoB skimmer on my 55 and it did a wonderful job.  I have seen multiple HoB skimmers perform wonderfully with no issues.

    For a 20 you could find a used CPR bak pak for cheap. The reef octopus skimmers get rave reviews.

    i have a deltec mc500 i'd make you a heck of a deal on if your looking for a top of the line skimmer cheap

    5 stars in my book for octopus shimmers. No problems yet with it.
