I am thinking about making a fish only liverock tank out of my 112
    i want a lion fish,
    niger trigger,
    snowflack eel(maybe)
I have a large yellow tank,
    Sailfin tang,
    melanrous wrasse,
    3 bangi cardnals,
    and a green manderian.
Could someone please give me a input on what i can and can not keep.

    Thanks

I would think the anything that a lion or a snowflake eel could get in their mouth would be eaten. I imagine the wrasse, the cardinals and the mandarin would be fish food.

I think they would be fine. I had tangs (yellow and naso) and triggers (niger, blue jaw & pink tail) and butterfly (black & white heniochus) with a lion and all got along fine. Also, all the fish you listed are reef safe (e.g. won't eat coral) so you could do an aggressive reef if you can keep nitrates and phosphates in check....

Hey Brad - I think IaJim is right that eventually at least the cardinals and mandarin will become lion chow...not sure if the wrasse is large enough to get by or not....

I always fed my lions silversides and krill from Iowa Seascapes. Never had an eel but would assume they would have a similar diet. Good luck with the new project!

I could take those fish off your hands if you need. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif
The eel sounds pretty cool. I know someone who had one and it was his favorite fish before he left the hobby. Good luck with the new fish.

I made the mistake of putting a snowflake eel in my reef tank and you would be surprised the size of fish they get ahold of. Even the ones they didn't kill dealt with a lot of stress. In my opinion they are neat but better left with fish that can defend themselves

the only fish that you have that are safe with a lion are your tangs the others will become snacks when the lion gets bigger
