First of many stories about Central Campus

I almost want to move to Des Moines just so my kids can go there someday. What an awesome opportunity those kids have!

 

That is one great program for high school kids. Wish I had something like that when I went to school.
I hope that in a few year we will have opportunity to revisit Center Campus and see how everything has changed, now that they are on the map.

 

All are welcome! This classroom is about giving back to the community and allowing people to grow with the program. Being a part of this student ran facility is one of the things that has driven my passion about reef keeping. While I always want to learn more, it is awesome teaching kids about what we know and also donating that small frag and coming back a year later to see the kids taking what is now a mother colony and fragging it.

 

Kirk, are you the Flyboy?  I have an 11 year old daughter that is "chopping at the bits' to get into the class or program.  I assume there is nothing for her right now.

My name is Chris Civitate. I am a volunteer and past student at Central Campus. I have been helping out at the room for years and am helping Kirk with all Social Outreach as he doesn't have time. It is important for us to be active in the community and this is one of the best ways for us. Right now we don't offer any gifted and talented programs for kids that age but it could be a posibility again in the future. We do allow school groups to come and tour the room it is just a matter of the teacher contacting the room.

 

My daughter said she thought that students from DMACC could take classes at Central Campus. Do you know anything about this?

 

Kirk said something about during the tour. I belive there is a program with DMACC and there is 1 or 2 college age kids taking it now.
