@aussie and I are getting together at my house in Cedar Rapids this Friday 2/15 around 4pm to plan out and brainstorm events for our area!

Any member is more than welcome to come help plan. If we get a few extra people I might have to order some food too!

@aussie and I had a very productive meeting tonight. We don't have final details on the events, however we do have dates. There will be more details as each event comes closer and the number of people that want to attend will have a factor in some of the logistics. Anyway, what we have planned is as follows:

1) Friday Night Poker Night
- April 19, 2019
- Location to be determined (if you would like to volunteer your house for poker night that would be great!)
- Texas Hold em
- Buy in is one frag of any kind!
- 1st place takes home 50% of frags brought
- 2nd place takes home 30% of frags
- 3rd place takes home 20%
- 3-4 hour game
- Food provided by club!


2) Christmas in July! - White elephant style
- July 20th, 2019 (Saturday)
- Members bring in one reef related item (wrapped)
- grand prize drawing at the end (Item TBD)
- Full list of rules TBD
- potential venue; Godfather's Pizza off of 1st ave NE Cedar Rapids (will contact)
- Food provided by club!

3) DIY Fishfood
- September 21st, 2019
- Details TBD
- Will need list of members interested in attending event/ purchasing food
- potential collaboration with cedar falls/ waterloo region


This is what we have so far. Any feedback would be great, maybe potential ideas for a grand prize for the white elephant half Christmas? Of course any GIRS member is welcome to attend these events, regardless of region.
