I am hooking all my house systems into one common sump.  There will be two 220 gallon tanks downstairs, and one 100G tank upstairs.  It will also feed skimmers, GFO, carbon and so on.
I needed a big pump so I ordered the Reeflo Manta Ray.
I got everything plumbed up, ready to go and went to plug it in for the first test.
Lo and behold it had a funky plug in on it.  The spades went sideways instead of up and down.
Upon further examination it is a 220V pump.  Now I have to run a 220 line over to the fish room to run this pump.
wire, plug in, box, and breaker another $100.
No where on any site does it tell you that it is a 220V pump, so be prepared if you go to order one of these monsters.
    Quick Overview
ReeFlo pumps are hands down the best high flow/high pressure pumps on the market. They are the most affordable, lowest wattage, and quietest pumps in this class. ReeFlo also provides top notch customer service. We have, along with our customers, personally found ReeFlo to be extremely helpful with questions and troubleshooting. Manta Ray Specs

Craig, of you go to their site

    http://www.reeflopumps.com/

And click on the third picture at the top of the page, it says "220v" right there. I'd bring it to the attention of the vendor you bought it from.

ya, but I usually dont goto the manufactures sites when I buy something.
Bulk Reef Supply, marine depot, aqua cave were all the same.  I let them know.

Craig, you should be able to rewire it for 120V if you wanted. The description you posted has the amperage rating at 120V since its is 771W which is 6+Amps at 120V it would be half the amperage at 220V. Before doing all that, I would see if you cant just simply rewire the pump (its inside the box on the pump). That would cost you only a power plug at the most, unless you have one laying around....

I thoguht of that, but I called Reeflo and they said since it was a Baldor motorit had to be 220 only.

Good news is that it is more efficient so lower elec bill

220 always is. Now if it were 3 phase then you'd see some REAL efficiency LOL.

Now that you're running 220v to your fish room, you want some 220V icecap ballasts? Brand new.

My buddy's barracuda is a baldor motor, wired to low voltage 120, and can be wired to 220 as well...

I'm sure Craig is talking about a specific model of Baldor motor...probably different than your friends.

Reeflo Tigershark pumps are pre-wired for 220v. Manta ray pumps come pre-wired for 120v and 220v. If you need a picture I'll be more than happy to post one for ya.

The tag on the pump says 220 only, and I actually called Reeflo & the said this motor could not be rewired like the other ones.
