yes exactly. always put your heaters to fallback off!
DC8 is what they used to call the EB8 for the old neptune aquacontrolers, i get them confused still.

No issues with the skimmer/135 with the short usb cable plugged into the 40B EB8.  I just ordered another long cable from USB Firewire/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/pinch.gif  Anyone want to run it along the baseboards when I get the new one?  Just kidding/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/hehe.gif

The moon light on the 135g is on when it should be off. Fallback is off. If Time 21:00 to 11:00 then on. I went to configuration in the display and online to check to make sure the time was correct; I then pressed updatee/set. Any ideas?

    Bump.

Any ideas why the moons would be on the DT when the T5 lights are on?

Although the EB8 for the 40B is not an issue presently (and hopefully won't be when the new cable gets here)I'd like to keep this thread going so I have just one going. That way, if I have to find answers again for questions already asked, I have them in one place. My memory is old.... lol!

on your status page - did you select 'auto' for the Moon Lt 'outlet' so the APex knows to run the program or not? It appears that your coding is accurate...

The USB cable is here. I've forgot: do I plug it into "both" EB8's (I have it this way right now and there's a steady green light on the 40B EB8) or.......?

I still haven't figured out why the moon lights are on....any ideas what (and how) to check? Help please /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

Here's what I did with the new long USB cable: plugged one end into the 135/DT EB8 and the other end into the 40B EB8. Attached the short USB cable from the 40B PM1 into a USB port on the 40B EB8. Is this correct/right? I have a steady green light on the EB8's, the PM1 and the controller :)

The heater is running/ON on the 40B and the staus page shows it's 79.2 degrees. The heater is to be off at 78 and on at 77. Help please :=0)

The 40B info (temp, etc) is not displayed on the Display unit, just the 135g/DT info. On the internet and the status page, it is showing both. How do I get the 40B info to display on the Display? Help please ;+)

    Thanks everyone !

Ok, Jason has gotten me through everything :+0) EXCEPT: The heater on the 40B will not stay off...grrr! This is what I have guys and PLEASE Help! I want the heater ON when the temp is 77.0 and the heater OFF when the temp is 78.
Currently on the web browser- status page 40B Temp is at manually OFF...and the heater is OFF. When I change it to Auto, the heater comes ON but my Temp is reading 79.8 on the status page! The water feels that warm too /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif In Probe Setup> Probe enabled>Probe Name: 40BTemp>>Offset is -9. Configuration>Outlet Setup> Name 40BTemp_1 > Control Type- Heater>Icon: thermometer Heater Setup>Fallback (on/off) OFF > Probe Name: Temp> On Temperature: 77.0 > Off Temperature: 78.0
I went to the Unofficial Manual...pg. 19 Probe Calibration. "The temperature probe typically doesn't need to be calibrated (see below). Leave what looks like a cap on it. plug it into the base module (which it is NOT-it's plugged into a PM1) and it will begin reporting your temperature immediately. However, if you suspect it is inaccurate you can calibrate it against a known reference (Neptune recommends using a thermometer that's NIST Traceable, available on the web for under $60)......If you purchase a complete system with the base module and temp probe (Yes plus a 2nd temp probe for the 40B and the PM1 module from ReefGeek), the temp probe will be calibrated by Neptune and the calibration values stored in that base module. This is not true for other probes, other modules like the PM1 or PM2, or if you purchase a replacement probe. In those cases the probe (even temp) should be calibrated.....
Is this the problem- the probe isn't calibrated or, calibrated correctly? What can I do if this is the case? I just spent another $67 for the new USB cable, do I HAVE TO buy the 'NIST Traceable thermometer? Has anyone had this problem?

If temp 2 (40B) was displaying above what the Apex is programed for heat range then it should have kicked that outlet off- Whether or not that is a correctly calibrated temperature shouldn't matter at all. It was getting a higher reading it should shut off. At least that's how I would interpret it.

I've never dealt with the PM1 so I am not sure where to lead you. I would suspect its a communication issue, or programming error somewhere. When the 40B heater is on, is the main display heater also on? Make sure its not somehow reading the wrong temp probe, Have you tried moving the heater and reprogramming it on a different outlet?

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, it should have kicked off but it didn't.  I've been looking at the graph for both tanks.  It has shown that the heaters have turned on and off so they are working now/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif  The graph isn't showing the heater on at any time for the DT/135g .  It has shown where the 40B heater kicked on.
I have the temp for both tanks to go on at 77.5 and off at 78.0.
    The DT graph shows the temp had gotten down to 76.9 at 17:50 on may 30th.  At 22:10 it shows the temp was at 78.4 on may 30th.  Whereas, the graph shows the 40B's temp is going all over the place/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/ermm.gif  Here's what I see:  6/1 at 10:20 @ 80.3 > 15:10 @ 78.1>  19:20 @ 77.6>  19:45 @ ON>  20:00 @ 77.5>  20:10 @ 77.6>  23:00 @ 78.4>  23:29 @ OFF> 23:50 @ 78.9 then 6/2  00:20:00 @ 79.3

Has anyone ever posted a graph in here?  If yes, how do I do it...copy & paste?

The 135 tank seems pretty stable with temp, understandably as it's got a much larget TWV and is acrylic vs the 40B having much less WV and is glass.  I want the 40B to be more stable with the temp.  What I'm wondering is should I run the temp warmer to get it more stable?  Should I try ON @ 78.5 and OFF @ 79?

Thanks everyone for your help and opinions!!  With everyones' help, I'll get the Apex figured out more quickly/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif I calibrated the pH probes so it will be interesting to see what they are reading./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
