I am looking at getting a little cube in the 20-60 range and the Marineland ones hit a nice price point. I saw a nice 45 at a local sponsor store that is tempting but my problem is I am not a huge fan of the overflow design so reluctant to pay the premium for the reef ready.

I have no experience drilling a tank and honestly would not be all that comfortable doing it...but assuming I found someone to pay or bribe to do so I am curious what most of you do? Do you get some kind of glass holes kit or similar or can you literally just run an upturned elbow and get some kind of strainer for it? In the past i have always purchased reef-ready from the factory.

Thanks for the reply...have you had an issue with noise? The one thing i found in my research was that those kits tend to be noisy.

If you are around DM I have some bits you can use. One is for 3/4" and the other is for 1 1/2".

Thanks for the feedback and offers to help! Once I secure the tank this will be very handy and I may contact a few of these options. Thanks again!

I can also vouch for MJB. He built me an awesome cube that I have been very happy with.
