   @Big B did you see the post (cycling question) in general hobby related? And Runner the lights are on for 6 hours

   You don't have to cycle your tank with the lights on.
   
   
   The brown algae is normal.
   
   
   NO you don't have to wait 6mos for livestock---Get your params to 0 and start adding hardier critters slowly.

   The brown stuff is diatoms. They are a normal part of the cycling process. They feed on silicates.
