I have the Apex controller currently.  I am looking to hook up two tanks.  Can you connect the Apex jr, and use the 4 outlets in conjunction with a regular apex setup and hook it up to just use the outlets?

I don't believe that you can hook 2 controllers together, but there is no reason why one apex shouldn't be able to control multiple tanks.

You can purchase expansion modules for the Apex that will give you everything you need including more outlets, more probes and even a second display if you want...

I am kind of confused on what you have? Do you have both an Apex and an Apex Jr already? I don't see any reason you would want to buy the Jr. if you already have the full capabilities of the apex. Just buy an EB8 and have it for the second tank.

I'm gonna jump in on this bandwagon being that its asking a very similar question to one I have. Same question, how to go about maintaining two tanks with one controller, but can you do it with the apex jr? What do you need to buy equipment wise to have 2 tank setups running on one?

Honestly, this probably boils down to the physical proximity of the tanks you want to manage with the Apex. The Apex isn't a wireless device, so you are going to be limited by cable length. If you have tanks in separate room far apart from each other, it's going to be a lot tougher (though maybe not impossible) to get them wired onto the same controller. It looks like you could go up to 100 ft away with one of these: http://www.usbfirewire.com/parts/rr-apex-xxg.html

If however, the tanks are close to each other, a single Apex base unit should be more than enough. You would probably want a control head for each tank, and whatever extra expansion modules you need in order to get enough probes for both tanks.

The APEX supports an insane number of modules/probes/outlets.

I think AC&C controls all their systems with only one APEX.

Yeah, 100 feet should get you about anywhere. The problem is how to actually run the cable so it's hidden/out of the way.

With those specs, there's no doubt that the Apex is designed to handle multiple tanks though... /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
