I have a random faint blue line that is now showing up on my computer a little to the left of center on my screen.  I tried restarting it, but am not sure what else I can do.  Any thoughts or ideas?

Sounds like a video chipset issue more than the lcd, either way it's not good.

I think you need a new monitor. Here's a test you can try. Plug in an external monitor to the laptop. Do you still see the line? If so, then the issue is your video chipset and not the monitor. If you don't see the line, then it's your monitor. Now, there is one other, somewhat remote possibility, and that is a loose monitor cable, but this is not a common thing and it would probably not impact just a single pixel.

If you still have a warranty, call it in. I believe that you need a new monitor.

Not with a computer that I know off, but I heard some tvs with that issue have been recalled and replaced for free. Check into it.
