Anyone ever used one of these? I was browsing Reef2Reef and came across a thread about them. Seems like a pretty good DIY project and an easy way to slightly raise PH. Mine usually hangs around 7.8-8.0. My house is not very air tight and even all opened up it rarely gets above 8.0. I figured any thing I could do to raise the PH would be beneficial.
If anyone is wondering here is the thread I am referring to. http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/do-yourself-diy/57609-easy-way-increase-your-tanks-ph.html

My basement is the same way. I just open the windows and it jumps to 8.3? I've seen these before and they do work. Air gas in cr sells that crap. Then it's basically just a little elbow grease and whammo!
Let me know if you go this route. If it works I might try the same thing. I'd suggest getting a small batch of soda lime and if it works, I'd be more than happy to split the cost on a 5 gal pale /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

Wow I'm definitely interested... even running kalk to try to keep ph up with my calcium reactor i run between 7.80 and 8.10. It looks relatively simple to get going. Anyone have any experience trying this out? I'm in the CR/IC area and would also be interested in going in on the soda lime.

I'd be up for splitting the costs on a bucket of the soda lime and trying this out. Who all is interested.

You know that kalk absorbs Co2 just as well[IMG] Soda lime and kalk are allot alike except the kalk is a powder and soda lime is spheres shaped. ( and much easier to run air through it). I've never tried the co2 scrubber though. I’ve read mixed results on them but think this depends on how much Co2 is in ambient air around the aquarium whether or not they will help much. The aquariums water is always going to try to be in equilibrium with the co2 in the room.

Once my 2 part is gone I think I will probably switch to topping off with limewater. In the meantime I figured I would see if any body had experience with the CO2 scrubber to see if it was worth the investment in the soda lime. It sounds like many people have had success with them. I may order a small amount of soda lime to run a test before jumping in for a bucket of the stuff.

Bulkreef has a co2 scrubber kit. I run one on my skimmer but doesnt really make much of a difference still stays between 7.9-8.0ph

    I saw that too.
What was the PH before you added the scrubber?

I've been running the BRS scrubber for almost a week now (waiting for bulk soda lime from Airgas) and I've seen a boost to my pH especially over night. I was typically dropping to 7.75 over night and getting up to 8.00 during the daytime peak. Now I'm dropping to about 8.00 at night and peaking around 8.20 during the day.

That's good to hear. Would you be interested in selling some soda lime when you get it?
