I got back from vacation last Sunday and noticed that my female clown has a weird issue - her mouth is 'locked' open and she is not eating. She is hiding behind rocks and swimming in one place with her mouth wide open.....I assume that's a very bad problem and if she doesn't eat soon, will perish.
    Any ideas / suggestions ?????

Sounds like a sort of reverse "lock-jaw"
I had read about it in the past. These links might help:

Sorry to hear about it. Best of luck!

very applicable links...thanks. the one pic is very accurate, except my clown's lower lip/jaw has a white'ish tint (abnormal) and looks a bit swollen. i can't get a pic because she's been in hiding for the past day.

I had a female also that had the same thing she was spawning next to a frogswawn and was always mouthing the frogspawn. I with some research and post on here came up with lock jaw also or possible reaction from frogspawn. She didnt eat very well  and laid 2 batches of eggs before she was back to norm. which was aprox. a month or so.

I have had Fresh water Angel fish do this many times. I always caught them and popped them back for them carefully of course. It would happen after laying eggs, because they do a lot of Lip locking before spawning.

Good luck on your Clown. If you can catch her maybe help her out. Many others just went back by them selves after a few days.
