   Not sure this is possible or smart but could I 'clean' my live rock (with maybe a brush) to remove the algae in a bucket of saltwater removed from my tank during a water change then place the rock back in the tank?
   One more thing- I am not talking about ALL my live rock just a couple 'problem rocks', anything with coral I am not going to mess with.

   Sure, but it will grow back in a few days. Get your nutrients under control and the bad algae will go away.
