Really, Why. My 10 year old kid looks at this site generally for the photos of things but dose read some posts.
the lights well lets see them on a tank going from one shade of light to another
weren't these at MACNA last year being shown and being told they will be ready to be sold soon

I guess I don't understand why you would want all of that above your tank unless your fish are having way to many parties and you feel the need to liven them up a little with the disco light. I"ll stay with my MH

 

I agree Jamie. While I do like the addition of the red and green LEDS alog with wireless control, the one thing I like about my SOLs is the simplistic control

 

They are pretty cool looking. But with all that extra color. I think I would wait to see the reviews on them first.

 

Wow and I thought the radions had over the top worthless colors. I'm guessing there sacrificing a lot of useable par for some worthless gimic colors trying to one up the radion LEDs.

 

Like Radions you're sacrificing a lot of PUR for non essential colors. If you need more spectrum i'd use ecoxotics multi color pro module. It just sacrifices so much less space that coud be used for royal blues and whites which have a spectrum that is needed for photosynthesis. UV doesnt hardly penetrate water as i understand it.

Nice equipment, but like radion probably a poor bang for your buck.

Sweet! since the sols are modular I might add a couple pucks to get a couple red, green and uv to my setup. I have two SOL blues so 16 pucks total, I will most likely add two to each unit in the middle. Will AI sell the light pucks seperate?.

The only issue might be having to purchase the new controller or perhaps there will be a firmware update to the apex or current AI controller to handle the new colors.

Wouldn't having greens make the green corals pop or am I mistaken? same thing with the reds?. someone with greater understanding of how the color spectrums work please enlighten me.

 

I don't know what the problem is, I didn't think we were going to police the language on this site like RC. There's much more profanity on RC, that policy has worked well for us in the past so.....? You've got to be frightfully naive if you think your 10yo has never heard the f bomb before.

 

Red leds promote algae growth so def not for me unless its over my fuge....

 

Well any light promotes algae growth. If you have a well balanced tank, filtration and light schedule algae will never be a problem regardless. Plus you could always just dim the red down. Im going to try and find out tomorrow if any suppliers have heard anything more. If its coming out within the next few weeks-month Ill send my SOLs back and get these.
