   How many legs can a brittle star survive with? I've been trying to dig 3 of them out of my tank and have had next to no luck. I accidently pulled a little hard on 2 legs and about 3" came off. Will the star regenerate?

   I always thought starfish were famous for regenerating limbs?
   
   As long as it eats and is healthy there shouldn't be a problem. Some stars, like sand sifting stars,that starve will lose legs and degenerate to death.
