So I got a whats new to me light system yesterday that has some fairly new bulbs in it.  Thing is I prefer a 14k halide and I am curious as to what brand people tend to go with and why.  And maybe an idea the best place to order from.

Are your reflectors SE or DE? JBs tank looks great and he uses Phoenix 14K DE. I just bought some new pendants from another member and I think that's what I'm going to go with. They are actually some of the cheapest bulbs out there and they look great.

Yeah phoenix, or radium's are the only bulbs I've ever liked. IDK if radium makes a DE bulb though.
*Edit: I've LIKE a lot of bulbs....short term, for the spectral qualities and the way the play to the human eye. But long term, I've never liked anything better than phoenix or radium bulbs as far as the effects that they had on my corals.

FWIW, Radium does not make a 250w DE bulb.

I tried 400W 20K SE Reeflux bulbs and liked them OK, but I had issues with them exploding; one of them within 30 seconds of first power on, and another months later.  I think it was due to a bad batch of bulbs or something and Coralvue was good about replacing them.  I switched back to XM 20Ks and have had no similar issues.

What wattage of bulb? Phoenix doesn't make a 400w DE bulb unfortunately. But I do like their 150w bulb in my frag tank.
