I've been having a hard time keeping my open brain happy and was wondering if anyone else has them and has ever had problems. I have a 75G with 2 AI's over it at 85% 14" above the water. I've always kept him on the sandbed as they're suppose to be, or so from what I've seen and read. I did notice though for a few days I had him on a frag rack halfway up the tank cause I was doing some tank maintenance and he looked the best he has been for months those few days. Does he maybe need more light? More or less flow maybe? How often are you suppose to feed him? Its also difficult to feed him because all my tangs no matter how much I feed them before, always try to steal his food. Ive created a little cover I put over him when I feed him which keeps them away, but Ive never been able to tell if he actually eats. As far as flow, I have 2 Koralia 1000's and 1 Koralia 425. 1000's on each end of the tank and the 425 on the back wall. Just want to know if anyone has any advice or dealt with same problems. Thanks!

Well I was in your shoes a while back. I read and I read that they do best on sandy bottoms. Well after all most losing half of it and help from Hung at Sea of Marvel I got him back in great shape. I notice Hung located him on a rock along with all his others in the tank. It looked great.   I put it in the bottom on sand after getting it home again and it just never looked good at all for 3 days. I said to my self.. Self you know what I am putting it up higher and wow did that make a big difference. I don't feed mine other then Marine snow once every week maybe. I tried shrimp and it just don't eat. As fare as water movement I have it in medium flow to almost high.Hot magnum coming over the top of it by 4" and a nano powerhead pointed just below it.  I am no export, but its just my experience and here are the before and after pictures.

This is what it looked like for about 24 hours after putting it in my tank. Lasted about 3 days then noticed Pepperment shrimp bothering it all the time.

After:You can see a lot had died do to bad location and dead flesh being ripped from it by Pepperment shrimp, but it was saved. Also it a bad picture and its not that washed out, but the flash makes it look like it is.

This shot gives you an Idea of tank location.

Yeah I got mine from Hung as well. Hes always had his halfway up the tank on rocks. I just know its bad if it would to fall if a snail or something knocked it over cause then it'd rip the flesh on its way down. I have it on my frag rack halfway up again here tonight and we'll see how it does in the next few days. Defenetely glad to hear someone had the same problem and was able to fix it. Im in the middle of trying to save my tank from majano's so I keep moving all my rockwork and trying to kill them all so I wont be able to put him in a solid place for a while here yet. Thanks for uploading some pics and helping me out. I think once I get my majano problem taken care of and my tank aquascaped again Im gonna keep him higher in the tank.

I didn't get my Brain from Hung he just look out for it for me and treated it so it wouldn't die. He did a great job don't know what I would have done other wise.
