    There was no food in it of course, and there's no date.  I'm going to guess the mid 70's.  But for 3 bucks each, I couldn't pass it up.  I'll display them later on when I can find a spot for them, but I think they are bad ***.  One has a few scratches and rusting, but both are in good shape for their age.

    might of been a trash can for pet stores? mabey food never came in them

    I'm not sure if food ever actually came in them but I remember seeing the smaller cans of food inside that container at the lfs's when I was a kid

    it held food now everything comes in a plastic bag in a cardboard box

    What the crap.  I emailed Tetra to see about how old these things were.  I get this message back.
    Hello.  The date code will be stamped on the bottom.  We haven't made
    these in tins in many years (maybe 15 years) though.  Nutritionally it
    will likely be no good.
