Well, it has finally happened. I have Aptasia. I was thinking of goig out and getting a Copperbanded and some peppermints today. Anyone have any other thoughts or remedies. I will look at a wand and or Aptaisa X if the natural methods do not work. So far I can only find 5, but who knows could have 500 for all I know. Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.
    Thanks!

I've had great success with peppermints. I still get an aiptasia popping up every so often, but they keep them at bay (or at least I assume they do... never seen it happen but the aiptasia is eventually gone a few days later). The wand supposedly works great, but is obviously tedious in a large tank or a heavily infested one. Lastly there are the berghias that seem to have rave reviews, however you run the risk of eventually starving them out. There is also the issue of not finding the darn thing if/when you want to remove it from the tank and pass it on to someone else. Though I have zero experience with copperbands, they seem to be the most hit and miss of the bunch, followed by the peppermints (though I think many people are sold camel shrimp instead of peppermints, falsely raising the failure rate)

Thanks Bela I tend to agree with you. CBB are really hit and miss, but at least I will have a nice fish even if he does not eat the aptasia. I am going to Seascapes now and hopefully they will have one or the other, hopefully both

trouble with a cbb is you may not have a nice fish in the end. they are difficult to get to eat and often starve to death.

I had great success with a filefish. I took him to a friends house to see if he has as much success.

Thanks MTHOMP I had read that theye are sometimes difficult when it comes to feeding. I figure if it will not eat after the aptasia is gone or if it will not eat that either that Kirk at central campus has gotten all the ones the have to eat and they have tanks full of just aptasia, so if it came down to it I am sure they would love another one and could get it to eat. The one at Seascapes was gone anyway so... They did have 2 Peppermints and I am moving the 2 in my small tank so hopefully the 4 of them will start on it and I will go get 6 more this week when I can find them.

Peppermint shrimp are doing well in my tank. I have even seen them attach and eat them at night. I also us a LFS Remedy powder and it works also.

Have you tried hitting them with a syringe full of boiling water or kalk or vinager (boiling water & vinegar have worked well for me)? For only 5 I think I would try another option before going with a livestock based solution. Just a thought.... good luck getting rid of them!

I don't know what is in it, but when I told my LFS Guy about buying Aptasia X he said i use this. It something he makes.
Lemon juice other things work too if you can find the right way to get it into them.
