apex and ac jr questions

    can i hook a energy bar 8 to ac jr or are they for apex only?     can a dc8 connect to a apex or are they for ac jr and ac 3 only?

    I believe you can use a DC8 on the Apex but no using the EB8's on older model controllers.

    That is correct. EB8s use the new USB style control cable connectors while the DC8s use the old style 4-wire telephone jack (RJ11) style control cable. The AC3 generation uses the RJ11 style control cable, but the Apex, can use either old or new style connectors as it has both on the base unit.

    Ok so if I buy another dc8 for my ac jr I will still ne able to use it when I upgrade to a apex

    Correct, however, the EB8 gives you a couple of distinct benefits.  The EB8 has a built in amperage probe to tell you how many amps you're using at any given time, as well as 6 USB connections to connect other devices to.  If buying new, they are about the same price...however, you can buy DC8s used on RC frequently for around $100.  Used EB8s don't often come up for sale.
