I got my Hanna Alkalinity checker today and was a bit dismayed when I found out it measured in PPM.  So I found the conversion formula to go from PPM to dKH.  It is:
    PPM / 50 * 2.8 = dKH
Now, if you haven't been measuring and comparing your measurements in the past, using PPM is just fine, but if you've been tracking historical values, then this formula may come in handy.  And since BRS now sells the Hanna meters and the two part solutions to dose with, their online calculators now also support PPM for alkalinity.  Enjoy!

It doesn't make the testing any easier, but I look forward to a test kit giving me more reliable numbers than the Salifert test kits. They always make me nervous with the "1 spoon of reagent x" when it would seem that it could vary enough to throw the results off.

I totally agree with you AJ as that's why I'm also getting a Hanna Alk Checker[IMG]  I have found that Elos test kits are better than Salifert...Elos has a more uniform "drop" with their bottles.  I hope Hanna comes out with a Ca Checker soon[IMG]
