Hey guys Im having problems with algae on my glass.  I have to scrape it everyday.  Its more of a brown film.  My bulbs are coralife 10k 150 watts about 2 months old and I have Phoenix 14 k on the way.  I leave my lights on about 6 hours a day and everything is in line and 0 nitrates.  Is it caused by the 10 k bulbs?

How long as the tank been set up? Do you have snails in there? What are your phosphates? What about your nitrates? I would bet that you would be having the same issue no matter what bulbs were in there. I'm guessing that either your tank has not been established for a long time and is going through the normal algae cycle of a new tank, or that you have excess nutrients, possibly caused by overfeeding. Make sure that your phosphates and nitrates are under control. You may want to consider a biopellet reactor or running some GFO. These only treat the symptoms...you should look for the root cause and try to fix the root cause.

My tank is a 90 and up for 3 years now. I have a couple hundred pounds live rock and my skimmer is a great octo one. Nitrates are at zero and I have 50 plus snails in there. Thats what I dont get everything is in line and I feed once a day.

^ +1 Run some gfo, rinse frozen food before feeding.

if it has not been a long-term problem, you might benefit from a very small algae scrubber. You might be surprised what a 4x4 screen with a 23W CFL on it would do.
