Can you live with the disco ball effect?

Ha Ha 399.99 I was off a worm one. Still can't justify it at all. Not with something so new and others will be creating sooner or later.

well many others have created them take ecotech for example. $750 per module. The big difference between MH and LED is cost. You will spend roughly $100 per bulb each year too replace your MH not to mention the power consumption and heat transfer from MH. In the end the LED pay for themselves in a very short amount of time.
I was ready for new bulbs for my MH fixture which took 2 150 de MH bulbs and 4 T5 bulbs with a cost of around $300. I ended up spending $700 for 2 AI and a controller. They will of paid for themselves in 2 years and I have great control of the color I want in my tank. They are not for everyone and many still cling to their MH as tried and true light. I can not argue that as they do exactly as promised. For me it was a matter of cost effectiveness and what was going to give me the best bang for my buck in the end.

I keep telling myself I need to make the switch to LED's mainly because my tank is gonna get warm this summer but after watching that video I may just crank up the AC.

Its not really the price of the unit its that is such a new Technology that the price will be dropping and I don't want in when its high. 300 vs 700 I would go with 700 lighting too, but that's if I could convince my wife of the same thinking. See my wife would say sell the fish tank. lol

Looks like some over time in my Future..lol

The shimmer from AI's isn't nearly as instense as that video. It all comes down to surface agitation and color setup. Have you taken a look at the shimmer effect the sun makes on a reef in nature? alot more intense than what we produce in our tanks. I guess for that reason I was really looking forward to having a little more shimmer in my tank to mimic nature. at first it was different but didn't take very long to get used to.

Kpotter I agree your halides look good. I saw them when i picked up that 20L. I also agree about the wife thing haha. We have seperate bank accounts so it's easier to bend the truth on how much stuff really costs. But if i sold all my reefing stuff I would have spent it on something else like cars, snowmobiles etc.. this way im sharing a littlle chunk of the ocean with friends and family that otherwhys would have never saw it in the first place. they still have a hard time grasping my plant(anemone) eats fish LoL and all those colored sticks and puffy things are alive.
