Instead of the 2-liter bottle, get some #5 clear plastic canvas from a Wal-Mart (if they have it - usually they only have #7) or a fabric store (in the knitting section) and use zip-ties to make a cage out of it. Put clear plastic (acrylic or polycarbonate, whatever you can get a hold of) on the top to let light in (the mesh will cut the light down quite a bit).
If you can only find the #7 that's fine, you can spend some time and cut out some of the piece to make bigger holes if you need to. This stuff is great, lets flow through and keeps buddies out.
Initially I used this for an algae scrubber screen. Since then I have found it to be the undiscovered wonder product. You can make media baskets, isolation baskets, intake pump screens, diffusers, spray blockers, you name it.

Thanks I will look into that stuff. I think I have use something like it before to keep Angels off eggs.

Where did you say you were getting your water? 15 dKh is pretty darn high. I keep mine around 8 to 8.5, but I know others keep theirs as high as 10...but 15 is really high. You should consider an RO/DI unit and mixing your own saltwater.

The high alk and ca readings you refer to...I don't know anyone that would recommend the levels you are carrying. I could see Hung maybe cranking these levels for his service industry because he only comes once a month so there is no two week water change to replenish these levels. Plus he might do this because most of his customers do not have a lot of equipment like ca reactors. But still, I would never keep my levels that high period. Balanced or not. Technically, you also need to balance your mag and if you balanced that with the high levels of ca and alk then you would burn your corals due to mag burn.
also, did you say that skeletal pieces were showing before you added it to your tank? If so, it was already heading south and then you added it to your tank which has less than ideal parameters, further stressing it out. Educated guess here.

Thanks for your info PotRoast. I will say this and that is my tank has been just great up in tell I added the Brain and will keep more of an eye out on my water now.

Ok everything is settling down. I Think my problem was simple and more then one thing going one at once of course.

1.Brain coral is doing well, but not in my tank a the moment. I am going to take out a 3 or 4 peppermint shrimp and add him back in.
2.Added the BAK PAK skimmer/Filter and skimming is helping my parameters. PH=8.2 Phos is lowering its closer to 0.Amonia=0 nitrates=0 calc=340(need water changed) and it will go up.
3.Added Hot magnum to help polish the water
Things are starting to fall back into place
