yeah! Also realize that this is a 10" diameter collection cup! That's a lot of crap!

Out of the 3 skimmer brands I have used - hands down the easiest to use and maintain. And they work awesome

Just curious what model you have and your tank size. I currently have a EuroReef RS80 I believe and it seems like it isn't doing as great of a job on my 120 vs my 75. I also recently added a 40 Gallon frag tank so my total volume is somewhere around 180 gallons.

Any recommendations for a new skimmer would be appreciated.

Yeah I've used the Kent Nautilus EX24 for a while, I liked it okay.

I've got a 120 display, 30 gallon sump, 40 gallon frag tank, packed with 40+ species of corals, several large colonies, 17 fish, a few of them are HUGE (too big really, building a new tank within next year). I'm running the SRO 3000. Essentially my water volume is exactly the same, I don't know what the difference in bio load is, but the SRO 3000 is more than enough to handle this system, and it will give me the skimming power I will need to expand. I'm adding a 30 gallon 48"x24"x6" frag tank sometime this month too, and I expect the skimmer will deal just fine. I'm also rocking biopellets which increase skimmate output.

I've got a super reef octopus in my 180 tank with 55 sump and it works like a dream!! It's also easy to take the cup off the skimmer to clean it, which was a big deal for me. Great customer support too.

Just be extremely cautious if you are used to using chemi-clean because it makes the skimmer foam like crazy when you turn it back on.

Yes I would say the super reef octopus's are good skimmers, but I've had 2 Bubble Blaster HY-2000S Pumps go bad on me, and the pumps are on back order, so for now I'm without a skimmer.

I have the SRO5000 and it works awesome. I don't think these skimmers can be beat for the price and quality you get.

Add some mag to the water. For some odd reason when I added a light solution of it to my water (Only added like 3 cups too) my skimmate has been thru the roof. I have the Reef Octo 150 on my 135g DT and 50g sump and I have to dump the collection cup every other day right now.

man that sucks, I've not had any problems with the new HY Bubble Blaster pumps. They take in more air/water ratio than any pump on the market! I also think I'm going to modify my impellar with some mesh to increase bubble chop. Also, I think kalk can increase skimmate output too if I'm not mistaken. I'm going to go look for some articles @ reefkeeping.com

Love them too! Had a 1000SSS on a nano and now just purchased a 6000SSS for the 350 I'm setting up.

Yeah mine is the super space saver model too, although if you don't have the space to fit a pump outside the skimmer body, there's little hope that you have space to pull the body out and clean the pump like you oughtta! I'm thinking at this point that I need to pull mine out, modify the pump and clean out the salt creep in the air intake fittings. But if you just don't have the space, the design is remarkably good.

I dont think mine is a SSS. I am running the NW150. Love the dang thing. I need to tear mine apart and clean the alage out of the body. My pump likes to make a pulsating air sound every now and then like it is low and water so maybe I need to clean out the impeller as well. It has been running for 5 months straight so far with no issues (KNOCKS ON WOOD!) Love it to death. I have 185 gallons of water so the pump is small. Looking at adding a frag tank so I'll need to upgrade it here shortly. What would be a good model to go to when I upgrade? Prolly looking at a 110 gallon frag tank. So I'd have 300 gallons of water if I can add right.

I guess the SRO3000 would be a good skimmer to go with, you could always bump up to a SRO5000, or try one of the cones (they're all the rage). I'm happy with my big 10" diameter burly bulldozer skimmer though. I think the SRO3000 is probably underrated pretty well, they suggest it upto systems as large as 300 gallons, and I think that it should perform at that capacity even with a moderately high bioload.
