Yes BRS is the best! The best value IMO is the BRS duel reactor. That way you can run your GAC in the first chamber and GFO in the second.

I'm running the ecobak as well and it works great.
I would guess the brown slime is dinos. Shut off your lights and cover the tank so no light can get in for a few days and it will all die off.
