I have a 10 gallon frag tank that has some ricordias and maxi minis. It has some rock, crushed coral, heater and a maxi jet 900.  Over the last month my water turns cloudy even after water changes. I have done 90% water changes and the cloudy water I take out is a bright pee yellow for lack of a better description. Nothing is dead or dying in the tank, I dose the same things that I use for my other tanks and i have no idea what is causing this. I took out the pump thinking it could be leeching something but that wasn't it.  I am running a small AC filter with purigen and carbon and it does nothing. I had to do another 90% water change tonight. All nems and rics are expanded. I'd pull my heater but have no spare and it is also on gfi so it would trigger if there was a crack.  Everything I have used is the same for my 29 and 120 gallons.  I dose reef complete and reef plus.  It is almost like something is precipitating out and that is a wild guess. I have no fish in it.
You will probably ask for water chemistry but I do not test ( I know [IMG]).............salinity is at 1.025
I am at a loss.  Anyone else ever have this problem? Please help! Until I get lights for the 20, I have no option to move anything out.
    Thanks!!

I have no algae problems, no cyano, diatoms, hair etc. Power compacts, bulbs are less than a yr old. It is the current fixture that fits over a 10gallon.

I wonder if the rock and/or crushed coral may be leeching the color...10g's is such a small volume that it doesn't take make to turn the water. You could take a sampling of the rock and sand, placethem separately in new SW in a clear/white container...wait and see if there's any color change ;=)

If you're doing regular water changes, I think the calcium/alk supplements are overkill. Ricordias and anemones are not going to need Ca/alk dosing like sps will.

    Thanks for the responses everyone!

    Zwhite-hilarious!!!!

I will quit adding calcium and take a sample of substrate and rock out and see if it leaches.
